I say boiled, you say peanuts

There is a staple snack in Alabama that is always a crowd pleaser. I may be biased as my husband is from the small town of Luverne where they hold the worlds largest peanut boil. (hey we all have to have some claim to fame) These are SO easy to make and always delicious. But don't say I didn't warn you, they are HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! Here is the super simple recipe!

Ingredients:

1 lb green (raw) peanuts
1/4 c salt
5-6 Cups cold water (enough to cover the peanuts)

Your first step should be to rinse the peanuts to remove any excess dirt from the shells. (after all they do grow underground)

Add salt and water into a large sauce pan.

Add in your green peanuts.

Bring to a boil and let boil for 3 hours. If you prefer for the shells to be a bit softer, you can let boil for longer. Just try one out at 3 hours and see how your taste buds react :)

When you break open the shell the inside nuts should be completely soft and surrounded by water. If there is no water present, turn off the heat and leave the peanuts in the pot of salted water for 30 more minutes.

Drain the peanuts and enjoy!! This is my favorite time to eat them, fresh out of the pot!

helpful hint: you can always double this recipe if you are preparing for a larger crowd. Also, people enjoy their peanuts at different salty levels, so feel free to adjust for future batches.

Store in the fridge for up to a week.

Thanks Y'all!
