Sweet Potato Sunday

This past weekend it was FINALLY cold!! By cold I mean 40-45°. Not to worry it was back in the 70's on Sunday and expected to be in the 80's this coming week. Gotta love the South! With the weather being cold for a brief second, my mind went straight to sweet potatoes!! What is more fall than a sweet potato? I love sweet potatoes but my husband won't touch them with a 10 foot pole. To solve this issue and craving, I created a recipe for one. Of course this can be doubled, tripled, quadrupled, or whatever your need may be.

I was lucky because my hubs was grilling a pork tenderloin for dinner, so I just added a little work to his load. Now if you don't have a grill or don't feel like grilling, you can absolutely use an indoor grill pan or even a panini press! Okay onto my delicious side dish!

Fall Grilled Sweet Potatoes
Gluten Free, Dairy Free

Ingredients

1 sweet potato
1/4 t paprika
1/4 t salt
1/4 t cumin
1/8 t ground cinnamon
1/8 t chipotle chili powder
1/2 T apple cider vinegar
1/8 cup olive oil

Start with getting your potato ready for the grill. Thoroughly wash your potato.

Cover your potato with cold salted water.

Bring the water to a boil and boil for about 7 minutes or until slightly tender.

Remove from the water and let cool completely.

While your potato is cooling, you can get your sauce ready. Mix all your spices and apple cider vinegar together until combined.

Slowly add in your olive oil, stirring constantly.

Once your potato has completely cooled, slice into 4 slices lengthwise.

Brush the top of your slices with your spice mixture.

Place seasoned side down on the grill and over medium heat. Once on the grill, brush the top side with your spice mixture. Grill for about 7 minutes.

Flip the potatoes and cook for another 6-7 minutes or until the potatoes are completely cooked.

Dig in! Happy Fall Y'all!

Thanks!

HURRY UP FALL WEATHER!!!

I am determined to make it feel like Fall around the Wise residence. Although today's high was 87, I am still craving the tastes of fall. I have started burning fall scented candles. Speaking of candles.. I found a new one at Target I am OBSESSED with! It is the the Nature's Wick line, Bonfire Nights. It is the PERFECT fall candle. Really I would probably burn it all year round! whoops sidetrack... Another part of fall I love is PUMPKIN BREAD! When you first think of pumpkin bread, you probably don't think of healthy snack option that is dairy free gluten free. Well, guess what.... my version is!!!

So here goes nothing!

Fall is Here Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients:

1 can pure pumpkin
1 cup agave (or honey)
1/2 cup unsweetened gluten free applesauce
2 eggs
2 cups almond flour
1/2 t nutmeg
1/2 t ground cloves
1/2 t ground ginger
1/2 t cinnamon
3/4 t baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt

What to do:

Preheat oven to 350°

Add all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Pour into loaf pan. My sweet Mother-In-Law gave me this super cute pumpkin loaf pan as a happy for fall so I used that one. You can use any loaf pan you like.

Bake for 65-70 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Enjoy the delicious smell as your bread is baking!

For you dairy eaters out there, try a slice with a scoop if vanilla ice cream and I will just sit back and envy you!

Thanks Y'all!

Fall is upon us!!!

Living in lower Alabama, Fall weather isn't exactly upon us yet. It's still in the high 80's, but I am SO ready for sweater weather  I can't stand it. Today I have a special treat for you. A very good friend of mine has amazing style and can dress anyone for any occasion. She has worked for Saks Fifth Avenue and is truly my guide when it comes to picking out my clothes. When I am getting ready for special occasions, I ALWAYS send her a shot of what I plan to wear and she gives me a yeah or nay.

She has so graciously provided me with some amazing fall tips that I am so excited to share with you!!!

Fall Fashion Tips from Courtney

Day to Night Look

By just changing your shoe choice from boot to pump and removing an outer sweater, you can transform an outfit from day to night!! Don't be afraid of a pop of color in your bag. Just because you are wearing black pants and black shoes doesn't mean your bag has to be black!

Fall Look Number Two

I am loving the dark nail polish and grey hues!

Here are your DO's to think about this fall season!!

Embrace all those classic prints we love but don't always know what to do with. Like the classic plaid!

If you don't own a good hat for fall you must invest! J Crew teamed up with Bailey for awesome hats under $100.00...they also have killer ball caps.

Bright hue lips such as orange are really big right now, so try it out! Pop of color always cheers you up!

Leopard (my favorite) don't put it up, keep it out!

The Met Gala set the pace for this fall with its punk theme...rock studs, chains, and spikes will be on all clothing. Embrace it.

Leather is still important!! But this time opt for a jewel hue leather jacket instead of traditional black. Emerald green is always gorgeous!

Winter white...stop listening to your grandmother...it's gorgeous and should be worn.

Jeweled, feathered, appliquéd, oversized, and chunky should run through your head when your shopping!

Fall Boots for Every Occasion

Over the knee is huge...Phillip lim showcased a killer pair.

Knee length...that little graze of the knee is just the right fit. This is a great staple piece to own because they tend to be a good day to night shoe....the it pair: Givenchy Gaiter Leather Wedge Boots.

Mid length calf boots are very chic! Pair them with a fun girly skirt to really show you love for fashion. Valentino makes some gorg rock stud ones!

And the best for last... Can you guess??

The ankle boot...the ever wildly popular clodhoppers are still in and cuter than ever. Rag and bone has really defined the look with their Kinsey boot...but I must say I love the Loeffler Randall suede ankle boots!

Well, now you are ready to take the Fall season head on!! A special thanks to Courtney for her WONDERFUL advice!! You can follow her on Instagram to see more!!!

Thanks Y'all!
